The Gulls

This year being my first year of  "birding" I am becoming more and more intriged by pretty much any bird.
The other day while up seetting up nest boxes and looking at the tree swallow and warblers i dident mind the gulls but this one came with in 3 feet of me for no reason ? i had no food ? But i took advantage of the foolish bird and took a photo. I must say it may be one of my favourite photos !

The Osprey !

The Osprey is one of my favourite birds to photograph, They are very unpredictable and not all that scared of humans. When they do the dive into the water for fish you can get some real amazing pictures! Then you have the nest.A huge clump of sticks that is usualy in a tall dead tree or on a transmiton tower.
Im hoping to get some real good photos of some osprey this year Stay tunned !
Untell then here are a few pictures i took last summer

Just on my way home from a day at long pond i seen 2 osprey ! (in diffrent locations)
Also i seen these tuffed ducks at long pond.I wonder if they will nest there Who knows!

Tree swallow nest boxes & Some random pictures from the day !

Tree swallow nest boxes are easy to build and the best part is, is that if you have it near a pond u almost deffintaly will get them to go into to ! Last year i put up 4 and everyone got used.

This tree is about 6 feet tall and has 2 northen flicker cavitys in it. Although they have olny been used once by flickers the starlings sure love it.

The ducks are on eggs ! (powers pond in mount pearl)
About 6 male mallards drove this hen off her nest and then forced her to mate with them. while she was gone i managed to get a quick photo

NOTE: i made sure not to disturb the hen "

Just a random picture of me today on top of topisal mountian !
Cheers ! Happy Birding !

Bowring Park.

Im just home after going to bowing park, I go there quite offten because it offers great photography !
Every year a male wood duck comes to the park and i love taking pictures of him...but last fall a local hunter in the goulds shot him. I wont say there name but they know who they are.

The swan has her nest in the same place as last year, i haver her some food and she gladley came off her nest just long enough for me to get a picture !

Happy birding !
